Rapper Silento, known for his hit song “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae), is facing charges for allegedly attempting to attack two people in their home with a hatchet. Prosecutors allege that the 22-year old Atlanta rapper walked into the Village Valley home in Los Angeles looking for his girlfriend. Once inside, he swung a hatchet at the two strangers. It was reported that one of the victims successfully disarmed Silento.
According to Fox News and the Los Angeles County DA’s office, he was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon and was being held on a $105,000 bail. He was scheduled to be arraigned on Friday. If convicted he could face up to a maximum of six years in prison.
This incident isn’t the first that Silento has been charged with over the past few weeks. On August 28, the rapper was arrested for ‘inflicting corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant’ after police received a domestic disturbance call at the 100 block of Macarthur Avenue. Although he was released that same day, LA police officer Mike Lopez confirmed he was picked up AGAIN on August 29 for the charges of assault with a deadly weapon (hatchet).
In 2015, Silento dropped his major hit “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)”. The song’s video gained over 2.5 million views on YouTube and started a new dance craze. The track peaked at Number Three on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the US and at 19 on the Official UK Singles Chart. He released his debut album “Fresh Outta High School” in 2018 and his second album “Fresh Outta High School 2” only 5 months later. These two albums have been the only albums in his career so far.
