Obama takes a seat in the barber chair on “The Shop”
On HBO’s show “The Shop” you are expected to see President Barack Obama, alongside Maverick Carter, and Lebron James on their latest episode. The highly-anticipated episode is expected to air this Friday at 9 pm and you don’t want to miss it.
From one of Obama’s recent tweets, you can expect this upcoming presidential election will be one of the main topics talked about. You can also expect racial injustices to be touched on as well as pushing the black community to get in the polls to vote.
“In Miami this weekend, I dropped by The Shop to talk with @KingJames and @MavCarter about the NBA bubble, the racial justice movement, and what’s at stake over these next seven days,” Obama writes.
Encouraging Black Communities
Along with his tweet, former president Obama leaves a link that leads you to the website Lebron James, and Maverick Carter created after the tragic events of Breonna Taylor and George Floyd called “More Than A Vote.” Lebron is also focused on increasing voting rates within the Black Community.
Lebron talks about why the majority of the people who haven’t voted were because of our black community and he hopes he can help change that.
“You can see it every time. Who didn’t vote? What counties didn’t vote? What communities didn’t vote? And a lot of that has had to do with our Black people,” Mr. James said. “So, hopefully, we can get them out and educated and let them understand how important this moment is,” Lebron says.
With this episode, Obama hopes he can push the black community to vote, and more specifically vote Democrat. There is a fear that more black men will be voting for Trump this upcoming election, but hopefully, Obama can help change that.
This week in Philadelphia Obama gave a speech for Black Men about voting this year.
“What I’ve consistently tried to communicate this year, particularly when I’m talking to young brothers, who may be cynical of what can happen, is to acknowledge to them that government and voting alone is not going to change everything,” he said. “But we did make things better.”
Don’t forget to tune into Friday’s episode of “The Shop”.
