Regina Hall Inks First-Look Deal with Showtime

Actress Regina Hall stepping into a new role

Regina Hall scores deal with ViacomCBS’ premium cable outlet to develop and produce television shows for Showtime. This deal comes months after CBS set a goal to add diversity to their network by committing 25 percent to a script development budget towards projects created or co-created by Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC).

This content will be produced under Hall’s production company, Rh Negative.  Hall is set to star in a one-hour comedy special and the actress will executive produce. This will be one of the first projects under the new deal.

In addition to starring in Black Monday”, which last week was renewed for a third season, Hall serves as a producer of the series. She’s currently filming the limited series Nine Perfect Strangers for Hulu and will star in and executive produce the feature film Master.

“Regina is an undeniable and brilliant force in Hollywood, both in front of and behind the camera,” said Amy Israel, executive VP scripted programming at Showtime. “She is one of the most dynamic and fearless actors of our generation and in her work on Black Monday, she hilariously destroys every scene she’s in. We are thrilled at Showtime to continue and expand our relationship with Regina as a producer and eager to get to work on what promises to be an ambitious slate.”

“I am excited to call Showtime home,” Hall said of the deal. “Working with Amy has been such a delightful and organic experience. I am thrilled to expand our partnership to create smart, meaningful, and impactful stories.”

Hall dazzled Black Hollywood with her performances in multiple feature films like “Girls Trip”, “The Hate You Give”, and “Little”. She is repped by ICM Partners and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman, Smelkinson & Christopher.

In addition to Black Monday, the “Girls Trip” actress executive produces and stars in the upcoming occult drama, “Master”, and is currently in production on the limited series Nine Perfect Strangers, opposite Nicole Kidman. She stars in the upcoming film, Breaking News in Yuba County, which will be released early next year.
