The Denver Nuggets take on the Utah Jazz in Game 3 of the 2020 NBA Playoffs
In what has been a relatively back and forth evenly contested series, The Utah Jazz stepped up big in Game 3 and blew out the Denver Nuggets. This first-round series is now 2-1 in favor of the Jazz. A returning Mike Conley would drop 27 on Denver alone to punctuate the loss. Utah point guard Mike Conley had left the NBA Bubble in Orlando to witness the birth of his new child. He couldn’t have returned at a better time.
The third quarter.
After losing game 2 and evening the series 1-1, Denver knew they would have to bring a strong team effort to compete with the Jazz’s experience and star power. Utah made a powerful run at the end of game 2 that seemed to catch the Nuggets off guard. Fast forward to today’s game 3. Entering the 3rd quarter all seemed perfect for another possible overtime affair like in game one of the series. That is until the Utah Jazz opened up a 30+ run on the Nuggets, pounding the mountain state team into submission. The Nuggets seemed yet again to be taken off guard by the offensive onslaught from the Jazz. Putting up very little of a fight to halt the run and get back into the game.
Along with the previously mentioned returning Mike Conley, the usual subjects Donovan Mitchell, Joe Ingles, and Rudy Gobert all showed out. The Nuggets, most known for their “team-first” style of play appear to have a major issue. What to do against a team with clear star players. Outside of Nikola Jokić and Jamal Murray have no true “go-to” scorer.
With no “home court advantage” playing inside the NBA Bubble, how will the Nuggets respond? The series is now 2-1, with plenty of basketball left to play. This is still very much a competitive series. Denver can not afford to go down 3-1 to the Utah Jazz.
